U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (08/02/24)
According to the latest employment report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. employers added 114,000 new jobs in July, marking a significant slowdown from the average monthly gain of 215,000 over the past year. Employment growth continued in health care, construction, and transportation sectors.
The unemployment rate rose to 4.3% in July, the highest since October 2021, ending a 28-month streak of unemployment rates below 4%.
